Wayne Barry’s Tree Services is a family-owned and operated business that has been providing tree cutting and removal services for nearly 30 years. When it comes to procuring equipment, Wayne and Co-Owner David Barry prioritise finding machines that increase productivity while maintaining high safety standards to protect their operators from the strains of the job.
Wayne Barry’s Tree Services use a variety of equipment in their day-to-day operations including towers and wood chippers. The company previously purchased several Vermeer brush chippers and skid steers, and are now one of the first in Australia to add the new S925TX Mini Skid Steer Loader to their fleet.
Wayne already had an older model S800TX Mini Skid Steer Loader and jumped at the opportunity to purchase the recently released, improved model, S925TX.
Co-Owner David Barry said, “We have been really impressed with the S800TX because it performs beyond our expectations. Before we purchased it, we tried other equipment to see what worked best for us, but we couldn’t go past Vermeer.
“When we were looking at purchasing more equipment, we initially considered a traditional sit-in loader but chose the S925TX because of how compact it is. You can get into places and do things that you can’t do with a sit-in loader, and the lifting capabilities are unmatched for its size.”
The S925TX comes standard with a dual hydraulic auxiliary system with high flow, which is used to power the most demanding attachments, and a low flow to give the operator maximum control.
It also has a tipping capacity of 1198.9kg and rated operating capacity of 419.6kg while reaching its maximum hinge pin height at 214.6cm.
“These machines blow your mind with what they’re capable of and you get a lot more than what you’d expect from them,” Mr Barry said.
Meeting the highest safety standards
When choosing the right equipment for the business, Mr Barry said he must prioritise safety and productivity.
“We need to think about how we can make our lives easier when we’re safely moving and chopping up wood, which is some of the most straining work you can do. Using equipment like the S925TX helps reduce the risk of injury in the workplace,” Mr Barry said.
“The Mini Skid Steer Loader reduces the amount of strenuous labour required because the machine does the work for you. It can pretty much do the equivalent of 10 people’s work without you breaking a sweat.”
The S925TX has a chariot-style platform for operational comfort and pilot-operated ground drive to help maintain smooth control on the work site and in tight areas.
